For instance, there are a number of places on the blog where I state that we use the class grades that are on the transcript, and if your school does not add weight to individual grades, we would then add .5 to the AP/IB grades (so a B in an AP class would be a 3.0 + .5 which equals 3.5). I have never heard of the dean scale, but an A is a 4.0 whether it is the highest or lowest A grade.

Anon II: I could not guess about your rigor, as we do not base it solely on what AP courses you have taken. It is based on an overall review of your curriculum from 9-12 grades, and then compared to what is offered at your school.

Anon III: Review the topics GPA and grades to find out more about how UGA calculates grades. Since I have no idea of your recalculated GPA, the breakdown of the SAT, the rigor of your coursework, or what the other applicants will be like, I have no idea what would happen if you applied. If a student is deferred, they would then complete part II of the application process. Your application fee would already be taken care of when you applied EA.

Anon IV: The section if for test history, not future tests, so do not put anything for future SAT or ACT scores. Since all test scores must come officially from the testing agency, that is how you need to send the score. I would suggest sending all SAT/ACT scores, as we will only use the subscores that are the strongest (so yes, we superscore).DGraveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898528441077213024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-89657296877077112712010-09-14T21:48:45.679-04:002010-09-14T21:48:45.679-04:00I see that there's a section for the history o...I see that there's a section for the history of your SAT scores. Recently, we averaged about 45% admitted, 45% deferred, and 10% denied, with the admitted and deferred percentages varying by 5% at times. But the admissions office does not go into the process looking at admitting a certain percentage or exact number. We more look at how many students we predict we will admit overall, and then what the applicant pool looks like.

As well, after this step in December, we will then look at the deferred students who then complete part II in a more detailed process, and a fair number are admitted in March. The March decisions are based upon a review of the overall class, how many we project we can admit, and our overall review of the students who are EA deferred and RD still waiting on a decision.

Remember, each year is different, both in who applies and in how many we admit.DGraveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898528441077213024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-49098594822998204662009-08-20T17:49:39.890-04:002009-08-20T17:49:39.890-04:00Based on past years, what percentage of EA applica...Based on past years, what percentage of EA applications are admitted, denied and deferred?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-60316228876119979972009-08-20T13:50:32.396-04:002009-08-20T13:50:32.396-04:00Sarah: If it is a minor mistake, such as entering ...Sarah: If it is a minor mistake, such as entering in a senior class wrong or the self-reported SAT in error, then it will not affect your application at all (we will also use the transcript for senior classes and we need an official test score from the testing agency). If a school offers 4 AP classes, this is very different from one offering 25 AP classes. What we look at is how a student has taken advantage of his or her opportunities. As well, we look at the whole picture (Honors, AP, IB, dual enrollment, summer programs, etc) in understanding how a student has challenged themselves. Look at what is offered in your school/community, and challenge yourself to the level that you can handle. But as well, understand that we will look at your overall application in comparison to the other applicants.
