You do not have to check the Status Check every day, as this is not a good use of your time. Last year, my oldest daughter was admitted February 20, 2009, and I just wanted to know if 02-20 could be applied to this year as well. I could not be more proud of my son who has applied to UGA this year, and I am hoping he meets the EA criteria required to receive an admissions decision in February.Current and Hopefully Future UGA Momnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-8125490736064860422010-02-16T11:01:15.374-05:002010-02-16T11:01:15.374-05:00Deferred Anon: When we only dealt with about 12,00...Deferred Anon: When we only dealt with about 12,000 applicants, we were able to do recalculations of GPA based upon fall work. Since we have grown so dramatically (about 18,000 applicants), we simply do not have the resources or time to both recalculate all those GPA's, read files, and get decisions out by late March.

As such, any EA deferred student will most likely not receive a new decision in February unless we received new and improved test scores. There may be a few cases where we wanted to re-review the grades (for instance D or F grades early and we want to see senior work), but for the most part, your understanding is correct. We do have a substantial number of RD applicants who meet the EA criteria, so a large part of the Feb decisions will be RD applicants.DGraveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898528441077213024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-54460573838742087932010-02-16T10:56:06.900-05:002010-02-16T10:56:06.900-05:00Academic mom: Without specific information, I coul...Academic mom: Without specific information, I could not tell you the exact situation, but Patrick Winter, our Sr. Assoc. Director, who works specifically with Recruitment, would love to hear from you. Go to our Meet the Staff page, http://www.admissions.uga.edu/article/meet_the_uga_admissions_staff.html, and you can email him from there.

Just so everyone knows, we do work with about 60-70 thousand prospective students a year, and it varies as to what we can do for each student. In addition, every college has their own way of recruiting, with a variety of different funding (we have been through three years of budget cuts by the way), and different timelines for recruiting. It does not mean one is right or wrong, just different. For instance, our scheduled programs generally start in late Spring/early Summer, so we do not send out invitations for these until later in the cycle. In addition, some out of state schools have increased their out of state recruitment, as they hope for out of state tuition revenue as a positive.

Patrick should be able to give you more information, and you should get something from us shortly no matter what!DGraveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898528441077213024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610885684347083635.post-76254384737102069412010-02-15T14:54:20.681-05:002010-02-15T14:54:20.681-05:00So I was deferred from EA and I applied for RA.
