Status Check on myStatus back up

The Status Check part of the myStatus page is now back up. We will be working hard over the next few days to link up materials with the application files that have just come in, so please be patient. When we import files into our system, we are then able to start matching up materials with the files the next day, and myStatus is then updated the day after that. In other words, do not panic if you see your application in our system but the materials you sent in (transcripts, recommendations, etc.) have not been matched up yet. Again, we will be working hard over the next few days to match things up and I expect that we will  be caught up with the initial application group using the new system shortly.

Go Dawgs!

  1. Hello

Hi recently applied for the Spring 2010 as a transfers and my question is are they going to start admitting and start sending their decisions after the September 1 deadline or will they send out their decision before then.

  2. Anon: As we do with all transfer decisions, we will be making decisions before the deadline, as we have already made over 250 decisions for Spring transfers. Generally, we make decisions based upon the completion date of a transfer file, although some files are more complicated and may take more time.

  3. so does that mean its possible we can receive a decision before septemebr 1

    ReplyDelete
  4. Anon: Since we have been releasing decisions for a while, it means it is possible to have a decision before Sept. 1, but it depends on the # of applications we get, the #we are able to review daily, when a file is complete, etc.

  5. I submitted my application to UGA On Saturday, Aug 21st as a Freshman for Fall 2011 (EA). Today, I submitted my transcript to UGA via Ga college 411 for the first time. I then went to the UGA status check to verify UGA received my application. It said you had, but I was puzzled to see that it was showing that a transcript had been received on August 1st. Would there be any circumstance where UGA would have received my transcript without me having sent it? Thanks

  6. Anon: The high school transcript field only has a month and year area for the date, so all high school transcripts show as the first of the month of whatever month we received the transcript. So a high school transcript received any date between 8/1 and 8/31 will show up as 8/1/2010.

  7. Thanks. I Just wanted to make sure it was mine since I just requested my transcript sent about 45 minutes ago. That was fast!

  8. How many transfer applicants did you have for Spring and Summer semesters in 2009?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anon I: Early this afternoon, I pulled up the GA411 transcripts that had been sent in today, and I was then able to drop in about 15 into freshman applications. As this shows, things go in quicker when they are submitted electronically!

Anon II: I do not have exact numbers, but I believe it was about 1,300-1,500 Spring 2010transfer applicants, and about 800 transfer students enrolled last Spring. Generally we enroll about 300 transfer students every summer, but I do not have specific applicant #'s (although it is always the smallest group due to personal choice).

  10. can transcript be sent by express mail and can transfer students send recommendations?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anon: Transcripts can be sent by FedEx, Express Mail, US postal, etc. Transfer students can send recommendation letters, but they will not impact a decision, so I would rather you not clog our mail room with non-essential mail.

  12. Anon: I have deleted your post, as it seemed to take pleasure in the misstep of another individual. I am happy to communicate with you and answer your question, but this blog is not a place to gloat over the error of another human being.

  13. I was accepted for summer term as a transfer but was unable to enroll. I just reapplied for spring 2011. Since my file is already complete, will that mean a quicker decision time?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon: We will need to review your file again with Spring 2010 work (if you took classes for this term), so make sure you have this updated transcript in to our office. It will depend on when you sent (or send) in the updated transcript, and what college(s) you attended, so I cannot say how quickly you will get a decision.

  15. DGraves,

If we aren't an international student, in our status check should the only thing we have check marks by is the application fee and transcript? Just making sure y'all have everything.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Chase: Yes, that is all you would need to have in (and show checkmarks) if you are a traditional transfer applicant.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why does my status check show you received my transcript on 08-16 with a green check and then have another additional transcipt may be needed with a red x?

    ReplyDelete
  18. When you review a file as a reactivation, does it show the previous acceptance?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Colin: Occasionally when the status check shows another line for the same college with no transcript, this is an alert that you may need an updated transcript (check the date of the previous transcripts), but most likely it means that the college was just listed twice, and we just need to clean that up in our system as we move forward in the process.

Anna: No, older decisions are not shown, only active applications.

  20. Hello,

On my application I put a GPA that is no longer correct. I was in the process of appealing 2 course grades when applying to UGA. My transcripts will reflect my new higher GPA. I was just wondering if I should contact some one at admissions to have the grade changed on the application or if the up to date transcripts will suffice.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I had previously applied to UGA and just checked the myStatus page. It displays the needed documents (act scores, transcripts, teacher rec., etc) as already having them from the previous term I had applied to.

My question is, would I need to resend items such as my act score, teacher recommendation, and counselor recommendation or would i just need to send in an updated transcript?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kristen: I am guessing you are talking about the section of the transfer application that asks for your GPA. You do not need to contact us about this, as this GPA is just a reference point for us. What you need to make sure of is that we have a correct transcript showing any new grades, as that is what we will use to make a decision.

    ReplyDelete
  23. AG: If you are applying again as a freshman, you would just need to send us an updated transcript, as we have the other information in our system.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I will get accepted..thank you believe!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If I realize I have made a mistake in self-entering my grades but have already submitted my application, is there anything I can do? Will this affect my chances of acceptance?

  26. Is myStatus going to tell me that i got accepted or not

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ecstatic but confusedAugust 25, 2010 at 1:47 AM

I got accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could do that for hours so Im just gonna stop. But in my acceptance letter it said I got accepted into the Franklin College of Arts and Science, but I am majoring in business and applied to the Terry College of Business. What should I do?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon I: You should email the correct information to admproc@uga.edu. I would suggest you send in the correct number of A's, B's, C's, etc. as totals so we can make the change, and if the other two fields are incorrect, let us know the corrected information as well. If it is only a certain field, then give us that correction and we will leave the rest as you had originally submitted it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anon II: First, your post is not exactly a clear statement, as I have no idea if you are a transfer applicant, freshman, etc., thus I have no way of saying what type of timeline you are looking at. Second (based on if you are a transfer), if we have all the required documents, we will then move forward with a decision, but there are a lot of applicants now for Spring transfer admission, so be patient. On the myStatus page, where it has the Check your Status link, your decision will show when a decision is made.

Ecstatic: Congratulations! If you remember from the application, all Terry College applicants and Grady College applicants start off in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences as Intended Business or Journalism majors. Once you begin attending UGA, you can work with your future UGA college to move into a specific Business or Journalism major.

  30. The status check page says it is down until tomorrow. Why is this?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon: The status check says "The UGA Admissions Status Check is currently closed while we upload new applicant data into the system. Service will be restored by 5pm on Thursday, August 26th.", so it is down for the uploading of new applicant data. We are giving you the answer on the status check, so you don't need to then check with me as well.

  32. Do you know when Fall and Summer 2011 transfer students will be able to apply?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anon: The Fall/Summer transfer application will be up in late October.

  34. I've applied as a transfer student and my transcripts came in about a month ago. When can I expect to hear back? I don't want to apply to other schools if I get into UGA but the deadlines are creeping up. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon: I cannot predict when you will hear a decision. At this time, we have about 1,100 Spring transfer applications (and over 300 have decisions), so please be patient as we review these files.

  36. I applied as a senior transfer student last week for Spring 2011. I have a 3.1 gpa as of this semester, I was wondering how many more transfer students you are expecting to let in for this semester? I am hoping that applying closer to the deadline will not hurt my chances for being accepted.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jonathan: Applying close to the deadline will not negatively impact a decision. We will be looking at your academics to determine a decision.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I applied for Spring, and with the updates on status check today, it still says that my decision is being made, but this time also left me with an 810 UGA ID number. Is this a good sign?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Russell: This is neither a good or a bad thing. The 810 UGA ID number is being assigned to applicants about 2 business days after their application goes into the system, and this will by the ID number for the applicant if you are admitted and enroll at UGA. But it has no bearing on whether a decision has been made or not.

  40. Hi, I applied online a few days ago as a transfer student for spring 2011. On MyStatus it says that I am being considered a nonresident for tuition purposes. When I applied for the fall 2010 term last spring, I was considered a resident. I have lived and worked in Georgia for over 3 years, and I have paid taxes and voted here for that entire time. What do I do to fix this mistake?

    Thanks, Jessie

    ReplyDelete
  41. JessieMM: I was able to review your issue, and I think that it is now corrected in our system. If it is still an issue tomorrow on the status check (it gets updated overnight), please call our office and speak with the primary counselor.

  42. Mr. Graves-
I submitted the 2011 first-year application within a few days of the application opening up, and my transcript and test scores have been received (with the exception of my joint enrollment college transcript, which the site says I do not need, as I don't have any grades at the college yet). Is December 15th when first year decisions will be released online, or mailed out to those not checking online, and is there any possible way that I will receive a decision on my MyStatus page before then? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mary Grace: I do not have an exact timeline yet for EA decisions this year, but they will be released by at least December 15. When we release EA decisions, we will make the decisions available on the status check on the same day that we mail out the letters. I will give everyone a heads up about EA decisions the closer that we get to that point in time.

  44. Hi! I sent my transcript on 10/8, and it said it was delivered on that same day, but on the myStatus page it says that I'm missing my transcript. I was just wondering if it takes some time for the the transcripts to be sorted out?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cooper: If you sent it by mail on 10/8, then you have given everyone 3 business days to get it to us and have it in the system. Give us a little more time than that before worrying.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I applied way before the October 15 deadline(I applied September 27). Will I know if I've been accepted before December 15, or will I have to wait until then to know?

    ReplyDelete
  47. icaitlin: All Early Action applicants will hear at the same time, and when I know the exact date of the decision day, I will post it here on the blog.

  48. How does the Application Status Check work after all of a student's (transfer) information is in. Does it give updates as to when my application is being reviewed, accepted, etc?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Bill: The myStatus page shows information on transfer documents, and lets you know when the transcripts have been received. As well, when a decision is made, it will show up on the myStatus page.
